I’ll also share 4 ways you can hand out your invitations that will determine how much money you spend on your invitations, because how method of handing them out is just as important as how you make your DIY birthday invitations for kids.

Our first DIY birthday invitation for kids is to make your invite using a service like Evite.com. Evite is an online invitation service that allows you to pick a design from their templates. Then you input your party details and add your guests email addresses.

Evite then sends the invitation to your guests via email and keeps track of RSVPs for you. It’s a great way to send a fast party invitation and the best part it’s FREE to use!

There are a couple of drawbacks to using Evite. If your guests don’t check their email very often, they might miss the invitation altogether and sometimes the invitation can end up in a SPAM folder and never seen.

Evite invitations are less personal as well because you are choosing from a set of templates. Using an online service is a great option for sending a DIY birthday invitation for kids because it’s fast, easy, and free.

Kids Invitation Idea #2: Email

This is a great way to get your kids involved in the party. You can make them as a simple or as detailed as you want. I’ve picked up blank colorful postcards and matching envelopes, and had my kids help draw balloons and cakes on them before.

If you enjoy making cards, this is a great option. If you don’t like crafting, then this DIY birthday invitations for kids may not be the option you would choose.

DIY Invitation Idea #4: Store -bought

If the idea of making your own DIY birthday invitations causes you a sense of panic, then another option is to just pick up a pack of generic party invitations from the store. You would simply fill-in the party details yourself.

4 Ways to Hand Out Your Birthday Invitations

After you decide on how you will make your invitations, there are 4 different ways you can hand them out and a few of them are more frugal than the others. Here are the 4 ways you can hand out your invitations to your prospective guests:

The most expensive way to hand out your invitations is by mailing them. This is a great option if you are unable to hand them out ahead of time, but if you can hand them out, then do that.

Short On Time?

If you are short on time, then consider making an invite, taking a photo of it and then texting it your guests. This is a great way to still send out a cute invitation, but to get the information to your guest’s immediately.

Oftentimes, I’ve combined a couple ways of handing out invitations just to make sure my guests can come. I like to send out a Save the Date text message with the time, date, and location on it, just so they know and can save the date for the party in their calendar. Then, I like to follow the message with a little line of text saying a formal invitation will be arriving in the mail soon (or will be handed out in person soon).

The key is just to remember that there are a lot of ways to not only make DIY birthday invitations, but also many ways to send and/or hand them out too! Just pick whatever option works best for you and go with that.
