After Christmas is such a great time to stock up on all the remaining stuff in the stores that no one purchased before the holiday. Typically, the stores are overflowing with items they need to get off their shelves to make room for Spring items.
This is a great time to make a list of the 10 things you should always buy after Christmas and stock up for next year.

10 Things You Should ALWAYS Buy After Christmas
Below is my list of the 10 things you should always buy after Christmas during all the amazing clearance sales.
- Christmas lights.
- Indoor Christmas decorations and accessories.
- Artificial Christmas trees.
- Outdoor Christmas decorations.
- Baking supplies – sprinkles, cookie cutters, piping bags and tips, etc.
- Gingerbread house kits.
- Christmas gift box sets of lotion, soap, chap stick, shaving cream, shampoo, cologne, etc.
- Wrapping paper, gift tags, tape, etc.
- Christmas dog treats.
- Christmas paper products – plates, utensils, napkins, cups, etc.
After Christmas is the perfect time to stock up on all these items for next year! I like to gather up a lot of these things and pack them in a box with all my other Christmas boxes and save it for next year. It’s always fun to unpack the Christmas boxes in early December and find all the items I stocked up on the year before!
Snag An Artificial Christmas Tree On Sale
Now is the perfect time to buy an artificial Christmas tree! They always go on sale the day after Christmas – usually more than half off what they would’ve cost the day before Christmas!
I know you might have unpacked your tree and realized half the lights were no longer working, but do your best to get through Christmas, and then buy a new one once it goes on sale. Some stores, like Hobby Lobby, I noticed this year, had a big 50% off sale a few day before Christmas on all their Christmas stuff. Then, they marked everything down again to 80% off the day after – but a 50% sale is still a good sale!
If you already have an artificial tree or if you plan to get one – do yourself a huge favor and buy this bag to store your tree in after Christmas. You would be surprised to know just how much dust and moisture accumulates on your tree as it sits in your storage room or attic.
I don’t know about you, but I really struggle with seasonal indoor allergies and am very sensitive to the dust on our artificial Christmas tree – which is why I’d suggest the storage bag to cut down on the dust.
In fact, a few years ago, I learned how to clean my artificial tree and would recommend you do it too!

Buy Paper Products After Christmas
Now back to what you should buy after Christmas. One of the best things to stock up on for next year are paper products – my local Hobby Lobby marks down their leftover Christmas items at 80% off! I can usually find some great deals on plates, cups, and napkins for next year at a fraction of the price. I just grab a few and save them for next year.
Stock Up On Christmas Gift Box Sets
I also love to go to Walmart the day after Christmas and stock up on gift box sets of shampoo and conditioner at half off!
This year, I found 64 oz sets of shampoo, conditioner, and a special conditioning crème in a gift box set that were less than $3. This was a steal!
WISH PLANNING A PARTY WAS A PIECE OF CAKE?
The only reason it was on sale was because it was in a gift box set with a Christmas bow on it. It’s the same product on the shelves that is selling full price but wrapped together in a gift box with a bow!
I simply took them home, unwrapped them and put them on my shelf and I saved a ton of money!
I also found the same type of deal with a gift box set of razors and shaving cream! Think outside the box – and you can find some awesome clearance deals on items you use every day!
Save On Christmas Dog Treats
You can also stock up on dog treats! I’m not kidding, this is a great time to stock up on gift box sets of dog treats – half off! My pup loves rawhide dog treats and toys, and I found a few Christmas gift box sets of treats that were half off.
I purchased a few sets and will use all during the year when she needs a special treat. They are simply wrapped in a Christmas stocking – so when I got home, I unwrapped the treats and discarded the Christmas stocking and dumped all the treats in a plastic bin and will give them to my pup all during the year.
The best part, I know I paid a lot less on the treats, simply because they were packaged in a Christmas stocking.
Snag Gingerbread House Kits On Sale
One of the Christmas traditions that our family loves to do is to have a Gingerbread House competition. I never pay full price for these kits at the beginning of December.
I always wait until after Christmas and buy one half off and pack it in a box and save it for next year. But, Katrina, what if the kit expires? I figure, oh well if it does! It’s mostly sugar, and we don’t eat it, so it doesn’t matter if it’s a year old and expired!
Buy Low and Save For Next Year
I’m sure you are seeing a running theme in this post. Stock up on these 10 things you should always buy after Christmas while they are at least half off, and pack them in a box to save for Christmas next year!
Next year, when you unpack them, you will be so excited that you have a lot of the necessary Christmas items already! Plus, it’s fun to open a box that you forgot about – it’s like having an early Christmas present!

I was at Lowe’s today and they had several light hanging poles. The Christmas stuff was 75% off and I think the poles were part of it.

We looked at Lowe’s the day after Christmas and our local Lowe’s didn’t have any left – they were all sold out! Where are you located?
